2024 Review
| Will Bamberg
Perceptive readers will have already noted the publish date. Yes, I’m a year late in writing this year-in-review blog post. I’m blitzing this out on a dreary evening at the beginning 2026. Thankfully, due to my tardiness I have no compunctions about following prior forms.
Goals set in my 2023 review that I DID hit:
- Create something on 95% of days
- Dance on 90% of days
- Record and share 100 more freestyles in 2024
- Weekly dance classes
- Publish more essay to /blog
Miscellaneous highlights
- I read one piece
- I skied in Colorado at the beginning of the year
- I continued to dance and freestyle. I recorded 193 more freestyle videos in 2024, almost double my total in 2023

- I entered my first dance battle (and participated in a total of 6 by the year’s end)

- I read 33 books
How did I change?
- I built on my relationship in year 0.5-1.5 of our post-long distance cohabitation era. It was great to settle into shared rhythm and routine together and keep making our home.
- I fell more in love with house and hip hop dance, and continued to build my foundation and confidence in freestyle. Attending the weekly hip-hop freestyle session at my local studio was an early inflection point here. Starting to battle was another, as were participating in my first out-of-state battle (Eye-M-Home Jam in LA) and out-of-country freestyle session (in Berlin)
- I put myself out there, not just in the realm of dance but on the internet. I continued to lean into twitter and tpot. Attending vibecamp and treeweek gave me a chance to meet many mutuals as well as make many new friends.
- …?
What did I want for 2025?
- Dance was my clearest goal—I wanted to keep building on my freestyle practice, strengthen my foundation in house and hip hop, and grow as an artist. I wanted to continue battling and dance true to myself.
- At the turn of the year, I began to accept and face up to some patterns of behavior in my shadow that have been affecting me. I wanted to continue this exploration and grow beyond the version of myself I’ve been in these areas.

I’ll close here, as getting this out is my priority. It won’t be perfect a year later. I’ll come back and add anything else I recall.
